Travel context worth reading before you lock the route.

01

Begin with the mountain day For many first-time travellers, Solang, Atal Tunnel and the Sissu side are the most anticipated experiences. Treat weather and road conditions as part of the plan rather than assuming every mountain route will operate the same way each day.

02

Keep one local day Hadimba side, Old Manali, Vashisht and Mall Road create a different rhythm from the longer excursion days. A separate local day usually feels better than squeezing everything around a late arrival.

03

Snow is seasonal The place where travellers experience snow changes with the season and access conditions. Build expectations around current conditions, not a fixed point on a map.

04

Add nearby valleys carefully Kullu, Naggar or Kasol can extend the journey, but each additional base adds road time. Choose them because they add a different experience, not only another place name.

05

Planning note Mountain traffic, weather and permits can change quickly. Keep the final itinerary flexible enough to respond.
